An Inspiring Milestone (and Commitment)
In August 2025, Bruno Rodríguez graduated as the first blind Systems Engineer from UTN Regional Santa Fe, after ten years of study and extensive teamwork. National and local media—Telefe, Cadena 3, Infobae, among others—covered his story because it goes beyond academia: it speaks of real opportunities, barriers being broken with creativity, and most importantly, an ecosystem willing to change.
Bruno states plainly: “I didn’t come to be noticed because of my blindness. I came to study like everyone else, with more accommodations, yes, but with the same goals.” That perspective defines him.

Challenges Behind the Degree - A Team Triumph
Engineering is visual: Cartesian planes, charts, formulas, derivatives, integrals. How does one take courses like Analysis I and II if most of the material isn’t accessible?
- Accessible Materials: Teachers and tutors transformed inaccessible PDFs into legible content with screen readers.
- Tangible Tools: Relieve boards and prints were created for "touching" limits, derivatives, and integrals.
- Smart Shortcuts: Sadowski's famous table was adapted into an editable format to expedite exams.
- Custom Software: Brunify (now SIMAE) was developed—an aid to learn C++—and made available to the visually impaired community interested in programming.
UTN not only supported but institutionalized accessibility through the Accessibility and Capacity Program and left a legacy that benefits future generations.
Technology Enabling Autonomy
Bruno lost his sight at two years old. Technology is his everyday ally: screen readers, video calls for orientation, and apps like Be My Eyes that describe images. But his goal isn’t just to “manage” with tools; why not: designing accessible products so nobody needs a third person to navigate a website or app.
“Accessibility isn’t a favor: it’s product quality.” — Bruno

How We Connected: Diveria and a Game-Changing Interview
Bruno joined Diveria as an intern, and he stood out in the interview. It wasn’t about “quotas” or “exceptions”: we discovered genuine talent.
Hiring Bruno forced us to implement accessibility practices: reviewing processes, documentation, tooling, and internal workflows. What started as a challenge became a competitive advantage.

What We Learned as a Company
- Inclusion is innovation. Adapting materials and workflows made us more creative. “Solutions for one” ultimately improved for everyone.
- Accessibility is design, not an afterthought. Thinking about it from the start reduces costs and improves product quality.
- Talent isn’t one-size-fits-all. Selection is based on performance and potential, not stereotypes, expanding the playing field.
- Culture in Action. Our values—inclusion and innovation—are meaningful when they translate into decisions: opening the door, supporting, measuring, and improving.
Number-Driven Impact
- +1 strengthened institutional accessibility policy at UTN.
- 1 community-open tool (SIMAE) for learning programming.
- 1 Diveria team adopting accessible practices and transferring them to client projects.
- Countless students and professionals inspired by Bruno’s story (and by an ecosystem that said “yes, let’s try”).
Cristian’s Voice (Mentor and Leader)
We hope Bruno continues to grow within Diveria. He started as an intern and is now a full-time employee. He’s gaining experience and taking on new challenges. This year, he faced a significant transition to a different project and team, and he adapts very well. We hope he stays with us long-term because we believe he has room to grow—and we look forward to that.
